Writing Reviews just got cooler…check out the new Review Form. Tell us what you think!

January 30th, 2009 by adam

Writing a Review just got a lot similar on AudioReview.com.  We dropped the novella format fo simplicity, along with some new features.

1) Access other reviews while writing up your review.

Don’t you hate that once you are on a review page you feel so isolated?  You read what others have said, you clicked the ‘write a review’ link, and now you just can’t remember what it was you just read.  AudioReview review pages allow you to read from other past reviews.

2) What did that thing look like again?

AudioReview.com NEW review form has images of the product as well as description.

3) Community Ranking.

See the number of reviews and the average rating of the product.

All in all, it should take you no time at all to write a review.  Remember, you came here to read other peoples reviews, so help others and in turn they will help you.  Write a Review Today.

After you’ve written a review tell us what you think of the new form.

HeadRoom Micro Line Products- Same Great Sound, Now at a Lower Price

January 27th, 2009 by adam

HeadRoom’s Micro Line of headphone amps and DAC’s deliver inexpensive audiophile goodness in only a coffee cup’s worth of real estate neatly tucked away on your desktop. In these especially tough times, we’ve decided it’s the perfect opportunity to take some strain off your pocketbook by offering all our popular Micro Line products at even lower prices — without cutting any corners. So the same serious reference-grade build quality always found in our HeadRoom electronics, the same great operational features that demanding audiophiles have come to expect, and the same incredible musical performance that thrills headphone lovers worldwide, is now available at wallet-friendlier prices.

Inexpensive Audiophile Goodness just got better.

HeadRoom Micro Amp… was $399     Now $333

HeadRoom Micro DAC… was $399     Now $333

The “Ultra Line” has all the same great features, but with upgraded internal components, delivering stunning audio in a tiny footprint.

HeadRoom Ultra Micro Amp… was $699     Now $599

HeadRoom Ultra Micro DAC… was $699     Now $599

—————–

Here’s what others are saying about HeadRoom’s Micro Line products:

I’m fully prepared to believe that the HeadRoom Ultra Micro Headphone Amp is indeed “the highest quality audio per cubic inch known to humankind.”
— Vade Forrester, SoundStage! June 2008

I am acutely aware, here, that I am not just teetering on the edge of the audiophile malarkey abyss; I’m sliding into it on a toboggan. But prolonged listening, and swapping between the outputs of different gear (with and without the DAC) confirmed it. The Micro Amp and Micro Stack really do sound clearly, immediately better than anything else I’ve got around here.
— Daniel Rutter, DansData.com (a gadget reviewer and unapologetic audiophile basher)

The Ultra Micro DAC and Ultra Micro Headphone Amp together reproduced seriously good sound with every pair of headphones I plugged in to them. … The two Ultra Micros really are a perfect pair.
— Chris Connaker, Computer Audiophile September 2008

All I can say is why did I wait so long to do upgrade to the Ultra Micro DAC? The sound is overall better, with specific improvements in cleanliness, texture, realism, soundstage, bass, separation, I’m running out of adjectives but you get the point.
— myinitialsaredac, Head-Fi.org

I absolutely love my HeadRoom Micro Amp and Micro DAC (totally worth the money). When combined with the Sennheiser HD-650s, the sound is nothing short of amazing.

Popular Home Theaters In a Box

    January 23rd, 2009 by adam

How to Choose a Home Theater in a Box:

    Home Theater in a Box
Building Up Your Own Home Theater System
Pros - Easy as plug and play. Someone else has pieced together the components so they all match. Typically HTiB save space and money.
Cons -Not going to impress any audio snobs, but who cares? Not everyone has time, energy or money for a individually hand picked theater system.
Pros - Your bank account is the limit in hi-fi heaven. You’ve done your research and know your stuff, you shouldn’t be displeased at all.
Cons -Where did your time and money go?

Choosing a Home Theater in a Box is pretty simple.  There are a couple things that you really only need to keep in mind.

    - The more you spend, the more likely the sound, options, and design will be of higher quality. Though you don’t have to spend a lot to get a good home theater experience.
    - That you may have trouble upgrading your speakers at a later point, if you so choose.  You might want to ask around in our forums for suggestions for your own room size.
    - The larger a room you are trying to fill with quality sound the more power you’ll want from your HTiB

Experts may all agree on the advantages or shortcomings of any product they review but, at AudioReview.com, we believe that the average consumer can best summarize all the details a product has to offer… So read what users have to says!

Bang & Olufsen Unveils New Showroom in Greenwich and Showcases Custom Audio System in Aston Martin DBS

Bringing cutting-edge Danish design and technology to the Greenwich community

GREENWICH, Conn., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ — Bang & Olufsen, the worldwide manufacturer of exclusive, high-end audio and video products, together with Symphonia, a Connecticut-based consumer electronics company, announce the arrival of Bang & Olufsen’s newest showroom in Greenwich. The newly owned-and-operated store signifies Bang & Olufsen’s continued expansion in North America, namely along the East Coast.

The 1400 square-foot, completely new Greenwich showroom features the full Bang & Olufsen product line, including its highly-anticipated new audio system, the BeoSound 5. Dubbed as “the modern-day jukebox”, BeoSound 5 is a digital system with an intuitive edge and supreme user convenience. It automatically customizes playlists according to each user’s genre selection through the patented MOTS (more of the same) technology — an award-winning concept used to create an intelligent algorithm which automatically captures the unique musical identity of a track and then builds upon a playlist of similar music. Additionally, this audio master can encompass one’s entire CD collection and beyond, making for endless musical possibilities. BeoSound 5 also delivers impeccable sound performance as it supports lossless music and brings the listener closer to the quality of the original recording, an element often lost in today’s digital music files.

    Bose to Cut 1,000 Jobs

    January 20th, 2009 by adam

Whatever you may think of Bose audio quality it is sad to see 1,000 jobs go.  The audio/video industry is going to get hit no softer than others.  Remember though, if you still have your job, which is still about 90% of the American work force, all 135 million of you, do us a favor and start shopping!  Crashing a ‘going out of buiseness’ sale isn’t as good as shopping now and helping to keep folks and families employeed.

    -AudiorReview

Audio-equipment maker Bose Corp. plans to cut around 1,000 jobs, or 10 percent of its workforce.

“We have been staffed for a growing economy, not a global recession. As a global company, we are responding to these challenges,” the company said in a prepared statement Tuesday.

The Framingham, Mass., company, which is privately held and does not disclose revenue or employment figures, was founded in 1964 by then-Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Amar Bose. It has continued to have a strong link to MIT throughout its history, serving as a major hirer of MIT engineering graduates.
